Anyway, if I try to spread my ear canal open with a finger, the plug feeling goes away. I assumed it was earwax so I finally used ear drops. I think it’s working but now my other ear is plugged “full time”. I’m going to try the drops in that ear later but my question is does this sound like earwax?
Is it possible that both ears are plugged and me removing wax from the more plugged ear is causing me to notice the fullness in the other ear?
Could it be something else?
Respond:
Ear infection? Sounds like it. It could be ear wax too, but I do have one question in regard to your seborrheic dermatitis. Are you saying that you have seborrheic dermatitis in your ear? Are you sure this is not an external ear infection called Otitis Externa? (more commonly known as swimmers ear).
If you’re thinking ear wax then you can buy over the counter ear wax removers, or you can mix hydrogen peroxide and tap water at a 50/50 mixture, fill your ear canal and lay with that ear up for about 5 minutes and direct a spray of water in your ear in an attempt to flush it out. You could do this with a bulb syringe or in your shower. If that doesn’t work, then I recommend you see your Dr. to ensure you do not have an ear infection.
Also, for home remedies, you may try tea tree oil. Some people have success with using tea tree oil in the ear. But don’t do this more than once per week because it can also irritate the delicate skin in the ear.
Again, finally, I would see your doctor. If its only wax, they can flush out the wax, it’s easy for them to do. If there’s no wax, it could be Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. But if it’s been several years, I would guess it’s wax. Either way, have your doctor check it out. Good luck.
