I told him when I get my period, I am in a lot of pain. He said take Motrin. I told him Motrin makes me retain water, and balloon up. He just didn’t listen to me. I wasted $15 on that copay. If you are seriously in that much pain during your period, you do not need a painkiller, you need a diagnosis. There are a variety of things that can cause severe period pain from endometriosis to thyroid trouble to fibroids to cysts. Find the cause.
Unless you are just a drugseeking pill popper, which may be what your doctor thinks. And the right way to take ibuprofen or Motrin for period pain is to start taking it the day before your period, to block the formation of the prostaglandins.
